Xavier Sander's Outsiders Comic Book

For my project I chose to do a comic book of chapter 4 of The Outsiders. It is the section of the book where Ponyboy and Johnny get cornered by Socs who take their grudge too far, forcing Johnny to make a hard decision which is whether or not to take somebody's life to save another. This is one of the hardest projects I've ever done because I procrastinated on my work and had to stay up all night, a couple of nights to finish it. The first step was to find sketches of The Outsiders characters that other artists had already drawn to get ideas on how I was going to draw my comic characters. I came across this Chibi version of Two-Bit and I thought it was cool. Chibi is an art style where characters are drawn with big heads and little bodies and so I went with it. Next was searching for comic book templates to draw on. I found a website that was very helpful and had everything I needed. I printed out the pages and I was ready to start sketching. I sketched on a blank piece of paper to map out the sequence of events I was going to draw because I didn't want to have a lot of erase marks on my final comic book. When I had an idea of how to draw my characters, I began drawing on the templates. I had to create speech bubbles and put words within them to make the book whole. At one point I decided to redo my drawings because I thought my drawings could be better and as an artist I'm very particular. But deciding to do this cost me more time than what I had since I got started late in the beginning. After that I had to ink the pictures in pen, which actually took less time than I expected. Next was coloring my illustrations which required the most attention to detail and neatness. I had to be very careful not to color outside the lines and once that task was done my comic book was almost complete. Then I taped my pages onto colored construction paper and placed them in sheet protectors that went into a binder. My project was at last complete. The most enjoyable part of my project was looking at how other artists visualized the characters of The Outsiders. It was really interesting. This is a short film about Ponyboy that talks about how dangerous it is to be wondering around the streets at night especially when your in a gang. Ponyboy gets kidnapped by a stranger that gave him another concussion while he was out he saw his parents that had dies he also saw Johnny and Bob. He finally gets reunited with his brothers. we added bloopers at the end as a bonus. We hope you enjoy.

My rap is called a week in the life of me because it talks about all the stuff that happens to Ponyboy in 1 week. In this rap Ponyboy talks about his life and how things are going for him and the greasers. The reason the rap doesn't talk about Ponyboy going to court is because he is "IN" court talking about hat happened and how it all started. I hope you like it.

I have made raps and songs before but never like this. This is more of a slow old school rap.

Are project is matching cards. The whole point of the card game is to match the vocab word with the definition of the word. Or a outsider character with what they look like.At first we were getting some things done.But than we were getting nothing done than we pulled are selves together and begin finishing it.Before we started we thought it would be boring but than when we started the card game it was fun.

This was a really fun commercial and interview to make. I really appreciated all my help. This interview shows the knowledge of the book because if somebody didn't read the book and watched the interview they would know all about the book. Ponyboy

Ponyboy is smart, and innocent,

He rolls with his bros.

Sodapop and Darry Curtis,

Also with Dally and Two-bit.

His best friend is Johnny, books and weeds,

He feels scared sometimes and target other people.

He wants his brother Darry to love him

He doesn’t know that Darry already does.

He really likes cherry,

And he fears the Soc the most.

Greaser sadness

As I look around the room, I see five tough greasers,

They forgot how to cry, say good bye, and to respect.

Greasers who lost two people in one night,

People who were never justified as right.

I can hear one of them say,

Golden is the best way to stay.

Both died; one a hero and one a hood,

Of course, people still thought both were no good.

If only Ponyboy would use his head,

Then Johnny would have not been dead.

Sodapop

He works at a gas station,

and he doesn’t have a relation.

He makes some money,

to buy some macaroni and cheese.

When there’s a cold breeze

It isn’t funny.

Some say that he has good looks,

Maybe because he cooks.

He likes to pick up girls,

We don’t know if he likes to steal their pearls.

Johnny

Johnny is poor kid and he’s in a gang,

They spoke with slang.

He couldn’t go to school,

Because he was a fool.

When he killed bob Johnny felt worried,

He tried to find a place to have him buried.

When he saw the church burning,

He tried to save the kids without worrying.

When the job was done,

He didn’t even run.

The Park

As me and Johnny run to the park,

There wasn’t even a car in the dark.

A blue mustang strolled by,

We knew that his was goodbye.

Five Soc. went out of the car,

They look like they were from the bar.

Although they were underage

I wished they were in a cage.

As they walked toward us,

I knew that there was going to be a fuss.

These are examples of our poems. It is about Johnny, Ponyboy, Sodapop, The Park, and Greasers Sadness. One of them doesn't have any rhymes on them but we think that it will do. There is at least 10 lines for each poem. We worked about a few days to get this poem project to be done. We searched up a lot of words that rhyme. We also searched for some pictures for some of the slides that we did for the power point presentation. There is also a picture of Sodapop. This is all, this is our poem.

Jake and Max, The Outsiders Comic Book

In the very beginning we both came up with character designs (what each character would look like). We did not use what the characters in the movie looked like at all. We came up with what the characters looked like on our own. We had this idea that something written on their shirt would represent there name or their personality. For example Soda had CocaCola written on shirt and Two-bit had LoL written on his shirt. We did some shirt designs that required going back into the book. We had to check Dally's description in order to come up with the idea of the I skull New York shirt (opposite of and I heart New York shirt). We split up the work equally, Max did the drawings and I went over it in pen and thought what parts of the story we should include what not to. We together came up with Ideas for what should go on which page/panel. We went over to each others houses sometimes and we always got a lot done then. We really worked on making our panels different sizes. We even decided to do a panel the size of an entire page for a birds eye view of the rumble. We also decided to add lots of detail we showed a bruise mark on Soda's face for a few panels after he got punched, and when Tim first appeared his hair cast shadows on his face and the moon was reflected in his eyes. We made his scar stand out a lot as well. We had a lot of fun making this comic book.

These pictures are just a small sample of my outsiders final project. Before I actually started my project i thought that it would be extremely easy but when i started it, it turned out it was really hard because I had to draw the characters really descriptively and I don't usually like to draw. Then after i thought i was done i had to do the whole thing over in pen and that took forever. Overall my experience with this was okay because it was fun but really hard. I didn't plan my project really well because to be honest i didn't actually do very much in the firs week and the 2nd week i had to work really hard and I was to tired to do other homework assignments.

Ponyboy and the greasers always get jumped because of the Socs.One cold night in the evening at the park, Johnnystabbed Bob, the "so called" Soc leader. And then everything changed. So Pony and Johnny was heading to the Jay Mountain that Dally Winston told the to go. Because of their smok addiction, they set the church on fire, disaster strikes the people the was having picnic at the run down church. Johnny becoming a hero of saving the little kids, but having to risk his life for the honor. Is that worth it? All the rest of the members in greasers was sad, but not as sad as Dallas. He couldnt take the major shock, so he decided to get shot by the fuzz.

Susannah's Outsiders Interview

This is a video of the interview I wrote between Ponyboy and a reporter. It takes place at the hospital when they are waiting to here how Johnny is doing. It's not exactly the same as the script because it's hard to memorize your lines that quickly, but it's the same idea. Some of my friends and my brother helped me film it, then I edited it on imovie. It was really fun to make. Ponyboy is looking down for part of it because he just got back from Jay Mountain a few hours ago and is really tired. The video is supposed to be a square, but it blogger couldn't post it that way so they cut of some of the top and bottom. It's the same exept that in the comercial you can see all of the numbers, you can see all of peoples heads, and the name of the news channel (news channel) is on the bottom of the screen. Description: What I have done for this project is a Outsiders final exam which was making multiple choice, true or false and fill in the blank. The process of my project was to think about challenging questions about the book.I had to think wisely so these questions could be hard so people to have a good challenge. I had to read a few chapters many times to think and come up with these questions so people can look over the book so they can really get to know more. The most challenging about this project was mostly coming up with the right questions for people to understand but putting it together was challenging to because it took me 2 1/2 weeks to complete the pictures and typing. The most fun was choseing pictures and colors to make it look eye catching because I like to chose the best stuff for the best project. From this project I have learned a lot about the book and about the characters as I did this project, I liked looking back at the book and adding new questions to my Outsiders final exam.

Cody and Preston's Jeopardy.

This is a fun 1-12 player game.To begin the game there are 4 categories and 5 questions each and there are 2 rounds. To start off the game a team gets to pick a category how much it is worth. The question pops up. If you think you know it you can hit your hand to the table before the other team(s) and try to answer the question, You get 8 seconds. If you get the question right you get the amount of points it was worth, if you get it wrong you lose that many points it was worth. If the timer runs out (8 Seconds) you lose the amount of points it was worth and the other team gets to try. When you answer the question the answer must be in a what is or who is manner.

example: The 1st President of the US.

Answer: Who is George Washington?

Like that! Also you can do where is. When a team gets a question right you press continue then add the questions with the + button on the bottom. If they get it wrong you can subtract the points with the opposite button on the bottom. After all the questions are done you have to write down your teams points and go to the second link (Double Jeopardy). The same rules apply there. You wont get the points if you don't say who is or where is or what is.
